All Natural Produce

Picture
Produce is our focus. We love growing fresh, nourishing food and love being able to share it with you!  I'm tempted every year to try a new variety or out of the way food (this year it's yellow heirloom strawberries!) and when they thrive, we love offering them at our market booth.  Josh loves the sight of a big, beautiful head of lettuce in the spring and seeing the table piled high with all the beautiful colors of the harvest.  This year we plan on having lots of lettuce, potatoes, radishes, kale, beets and swiss chard in the spring followed by tomatoes, garlic, peppers, melons and squashes in the summer and sweet potatoes, more greens and winter squashes during fall.  Of course there will also be some fun rare things like rhubarb, garlic scapes, fun spicy asian greens, and tasty herbs. Join our e-mail list to get updates on the changing foods of the season!

Honey Bees

Bees have a mind of  their own, they're independent, nearly self supportive and extremely productive.  We feel blessed that five hives have chosen to live and work with us on the farm.  They pollinate the crops and make such delicious honey!  For the most part we just let them do their work, stepping in only when they run out of room in their hives or face a disease or pest problem that is too big for them to handle.  When we do intervene we use the most natural treatment possible.  Healthy plants, healthy bees and delicious raw honey for you!

June is the traditional month to 'rob the hives' but with this cool, cloudy spring we've had, we may not see honey till July.  Check our Facebook page occasionally or join our e-mail newsletter to find out when you can get some at market!

Pasture Raised Poultry

We start with day old Cornish Rock broiler chicks from Welp Hatchery in Iowa.  The fluffy yellow cheepers arrive via the post office and live their first 3-4 weeks in our warm and safe brooder.  At four weeks they've nearly tripled in size and are ready for the 'real world'.  Out they go into the moveable pasture pens where bugs and grass rapidly become new delicacies!  Everyday the chickens are moved to a new square of fresh, green pasture and are also given a hormone and antibiotic-free feed consisting of corn, soybeans, grains and molasses.  Fresh air, sunshine, green grass and no added chemicals or hormones grow a super healthy bird that is O, so tasty!

We grow our chickens on a pre-order basis, contracting with each customer to meet their quantity requirements and pick up availability. The first batch will be ready in June! then once a month till October. Contact us by e-mail or visit our online store to place your order!

Dandelion Soapworks

Natural, beautiful, everyday and unusual all at the same time...
Have you ever tried goats milk soap?  It's amazingly moisturizing and soothing to dry or sensitive skin.  Susan and Caitie have been making soap for the last ten years with the goal of creating simple, practical products for everyday life!   All of their products are hand made in small batches and they take great care in choosing only the finest natural ingredients.  They are scented only with pure essential oils for their healing and therapeutic qualities.  These ladies produce a fabulous product that's a pleasure to use!

Their soap is available in seven different varieties,
  • Unscented with Oats:  Organic oats are finely ground for a gently exfoliating bar.  It’s great for sensitive skin.
  • Lavender:  Soothing, promotes relaxation and tranquility.
  • Peppermint:  Cooling, anti-inflammatory, stimulating for the skin and great for sore muscles!
  • Lemongrass:  Fresh, up-lifting scent helps to relieve fatigue, known for its anti-depressant qualities.
  • Lavender Eucalyptus:  The soothing scent of lavender combined with eucalyptus for an invigorating scrub.
  • Tea Tree and Lavender:  Tea Tree has antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral properties.  Because of this it’s helpful in reducing the amount of bacteria on the skin, an especially great benefit for acne suffers.  It has a crisp and clean scent with the softness of lavender.
  • Lemon ginger:  Zingy and fresh!

The soap is made with olive oil, coconut oil, and organic (sustainable) palm oil, combine to create a great bar of soap with naturally occurring glycerin.  Milk from local goats adds extra nutrients and creaminess leaving your skin moisturized without the tight feeling of most commercial soaps.  It’s gentle enough for the most sensitive skin, (we use it on our babies!).

To purchase their soap, visit our booth at market, find it at Creative Healing or at the Switch House gift shop in Huntsville, AL
